Zoomies is turning one 🎉

A year ago Zoomies was just an idea and a backyard. Now we have a house full of regulars we genuinely adore, more dogs hoping to join them than we have room for, and Geordie, who joined us in March and has been learning the ropes on the job ever since. Thank you for trusting us with your dogs this year.

Turning one is also a good moment to look at how Zoomies runs, so it works for your dogs and for our family for years to come. That means some changes from 1 January 2027. Here's what's changing, why, and what stays the same.

Why we're making these changes

We know everything costs more right now, for you and for us, and we didn't take this decision lightly.

Six dogs, never more. That's how we make sure every dog gets real time and attention: someone who knows their quirks, notices when they're off, and gives them a cuddle when they need one.

It's our home, and it works hard. Floors, couches, the lawn, the gates and a lot of washing. Twelve months of happy dogs comes with real wear and tear, plus cleaning, bedding and repairs that keep everything safe and comfortable.

It's a lot more than the hours you see. Behind every daycare day there's the set-up and clean-up, matching up groups, messages and photo updates, booking admin, and keeping on top of insurance and safety. A lot of that time comes out of our family time, and we want Zoomies to be something we can keep doing well.

We've invested in safety. We've added a front door camera for our new drop-off and pick-up system, plus cameras in the yard, so handovers are secure and we can keep an eye on the play area at all times.

Some of you have been with us since day one and are still on our original $55 rate. Thank you for backing us when we were brand new. It meant more than you know. Moving everyone to the same pricing keeps things fair and simple, and it lets us keep doing this properly.

Overnight stays

Good to know

• No holiday loading on daycare. Daycare is the same price all year round, including school holidays (and we're closed for daycare on public holidays). Overnight stays keep the 20% loading during NSW school holidays and on public holidays, as they always have.
• If we're away, you keep your regular rate. If Zoomies is closed for part of a month, your dog stays on the weekly (or fortnightly) price, as long as they're booked in for every one of their days that we're open. You're never charged for days we're closed, including public holidays.
• From January, daycare runs 7:30am to 5:30pm, so we get our evenings back as a family. If that's tricky with your work hours, talk to us. Other start and finish times can be arranged on application, for an extra fee.
• Regular invoices go out on the 20th and are due on the 1st, for the month ahead. Your 20 December invoice (for January) is the first one at the new rate. Your spot is held just for your dog, so missed days can't be refunded, credited or swapped.

For casual days and overnights

• Casual daycare is paid in full upfront when you book, and is non-refundable.
• Overnights need a 50% non-refundable deposit to lock them in. The balance is due 14 days before, with no refunds within 14 days.
• Overnights: drop-off from 2pm, pick-up by 10am. Other times can be arranged in advance and are charged as daycare.

What isn't changing

• Small, well-matched groups, capped at 6.
• A real home, not a kennel, with Geordie on welcome duty.
• Photos and updates through the day, so you know how they're going.
